Osteopathy is the application of Dr. A.T. Still's principles and philosophy through a manual hands-on treatment applied to the body. Its purpose is to create a therapeutic process which is organised and orchestrated by the Health of the patient. This generally results in a new balance point of function with a much greater sense of ease and wellbeing felt after the treatment. Treatment is applied by Osteopaths to the musculo-skeletal system or framework of the body to help alleviate pain. This is a difficult question to answer as all 3 professions are quite diverse in terms of how they are practiced. In their traditional sense all 3 professions have unique histories, philosophies, principles and cultures. You can read more about Osteopathy in our section on Osteopathic Principles.

First and foremost the Osteopath will take a thorough history of the complaints you present with and your health in general. They will focus on any aspects of your health history which require extra attention. The Osteopath will then conduct a thorough examination of the whole person and determine a course of treatment.

Looking at evidence-based results, Osteopaths can help with a variety of musculoskeletal complaints such as lower back pain, neck pain, headaches of cervical origin, and various arm and leg pains of a musculoskeletal origin. The beauty of being focused on the Health of the patient is that very little (if any) force is required to affect the patient's function. Most of our Osteopaths have completed a number of post-graduate courses on the treatment of children.

Treatment can help with a variety of symptoms experienced throughout pregnancy. Most of our Osteopaths have completed a number of post-graduate courses on the treatment of pregnant women.

Something comfortable and loose. Your clothes shouldn't restrict movement and should be relatively light.

If you have current and relevant scans please bring them with you. If your baby or child is having a treatment please bring their hospital book and something to entertain them during the treatment.

Osteopathy is only covered by Medicare if you are eligible for an Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) Plan. EPC Plans are approved by your GP. Please consult your GP to see if you are eligible.

Most Private Health Funds cover Osteopathy in their 'Extras' packages. Please check with your insurer that you are covered. Our clinic is equipped with HICAPS facilities which allow you to claim your private health rebate at the time of your consultation.

Yes we do have an eftpos facility. We also accept VISA and Mastercard. Payment can also be made by cash or cheque.

Yes, you can claim your private health rebate immediately when paying for your appointment.

Yes we treat Workcover, TAC & Veterans'Affairs patients.  Please let the receptionist know when you book in that a third party will be paying for your treatment.

No, you do not need a referral unless you are a Veteran Affairs patient.
